We make packaging disappear

Skipping Rocks Lab is an innovative sustainable packaging start-up based in London. We are pioneering the use of natural materials extracted from plants and seaweed, to create packaging with low environmental impact.

 

Our first product, Ooho, will revolutionise the water-on-the-go market. The spherical flexible packaging can also be used for other liquids including water, soft drinks, spirits and cosmetics, and our proprietary material is actually cheaper than plastic.

 

Skipping Rocks Lab is part of the Climate KIC start-up acceleration program founded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) and the scientific team is based in Imperial College.

 

Skipping Rocks Lab was awarded the 2014 Lexus Design Award, the 2014 World Technology Award (environment) held in association with Fortune and TIME, 2015 SEA Award and 2016 UK Energy Globe Award.

 

Our goal:

to create waste-free alternatives to plastic bottles / cups / plates / you name it.

 

Our vision:

to become the leading global producer of seaweed-based packaging.

 

Our impact:

to stop 1 billion plastic bottles  reaching the ocean every year & to stop 300 million kg of CO2 from ever being emitted.

Where can you find us?

 

At the moment Ooho is mostly being sold at events, while we get our fully-automated production machine up and running. We’ve done events in London, San Fransisco and Boston, including private functions, conferences, festivals and even the odd pop-up of our own! Rodrigo García González

Co-founder & Co-CEO

An inventor, designer, architect and engineer (MSc, March, MA), Rodrigo lectures in Product Design at Kingston University. He has developed a number of patents on structural and deployable systems. He won the National Dyson Design Award, and the GAUDI European Competition on Sustainable Architecture.

Pierre-Yves Paslier

Co-founder & Co-CEO

Innovation design engineer (MSc, MEng, MA) with previous experience as a packaging engineer at L’Oreal, as a designer at 3D printer Manufacturer Alt Design, co-founder of Gravity Sketch (3D design platform) and has given 2 TEDx talks.

Lise Honsinger

COO/CFO

Energy finance professional with 7 years’ experience in banking and industry. Former Investment Director at private equity firm ThomasLloyd, and worked at BP and Numis Securities. She has a passion for the environment, MA Biology (Oxford) and MSc Environmental Tech (Imperial).

The technical team includes Manuel López, a chemical engineer who specialises in our food and beverage technology, and Eugenio Pérez de Lema, specialising in our new design development.

Antonella Socci - over 15 years’ experience in marketing and brand management at Visa.
